Haim Dotan is a pioneer architect who modernizes the architectural
construction field in Israel with innovations and new directions using steel
and light weight materials and methods of building.
While working as a
construction worker in the USA, he graduated from the University of Southern
California in Los Angeles with B.Arch. and M.Arch. degrees in 1984. After
working in Tokyo, Sidney and Manhattan he established his architectural firm
in 1990 in Tel Aviv.
His company, Haim Dotan Ltd, has won numerous architectural competitions and
merit prizes including the Architects and Engineers Association Award for
the 50th Anniversary of the State of Israel for the professional
contribution to the “Total design conceptualization of office and industrial
buildings” in 1998 and the Israel Contractors & Builders Union award in
2000. His designs are published extensively in Israel including a complete
issue of “Architecture in Israel” magazine dedicated to his works in 1997.
Haim Dotan Ltd produces buildings based on highly industrialized designs
and systems. In 13 years the firm designed more than a million m2
of public buildings, institutions, office, commercial, residential and
industrial projects. Among the designs are the high-tech office tower in Tel
Aviv for Bezek, the Israeli Telecommunication Company, MTVS high-tech office
building in Tel Aviv, the Ashdod City and Rehovot City municipal
concert/theatre halls, the campus and buildings of the Negev Academic
College of Engineering, the faculty of computer and communication building
in Ben Gurion University and over 1000 residential units. The firm
collaborates with international companies on projects in Israel and overseas
and puts emphasis on accurate building details, construction costs and time
tables and economical analysis of design alternatives and systems.
Haim Dotan is a senior architectural lecturer in Bezalel Academy of Fine
Arts in Jerusalem and a former lecturer at the School of Architecture in the
University of Tel Aviv. He serves as a public Director of the Jaffa
Redevelopment Agency, since 1997.
